The Responsibility of Mentorship
For over a year, I provided free weekly academic tutoring to a student from an underprivileged background in Dehradun. Our focus was strengthening foundational concepts in Mathematics and English to prepare him for critical school examinations.
Teaching concepts like algebraic simplification or sentence structure requires endless patience and creative explanations.
Lessons from Tutoring
- Patience over Pacing: Real comprehension matters far more than rushing through exam syllabi.
- Breaking Down Complexity: Explaining mathematical principles using clear, real-world analogies makes abstract rules feel concrete.
- Building Confidence: Academic growth happens when a student learns to approach unfamiliar problems without fear.
Education is most powerful when it builds personal confidence and opens up long-term opportunities.
