Hackathon Engineering Under Pressure
During the BSAI Opportunity Summit Hackathon, our team set out to tackle medical resource waste. Millions of unexpired medicines are discarded daily while underprivileged patients lack access to basic prescriptions. In 48 hours, we designed and built MedLink.
MedLink serves as a secure bridge connecting individual donors, partner health clinics, and verification authorities to ensure unused, unexpired medications are safely cataloged and redistributed.
Platform Architecture
- Verification Workflow: Built a multi-tier review flow allowing healthcare partners to verify medicine batch numbers, expiry dates, and packaging integrity before listing.
- Relational Matching: Created matching algorithms to route donated medical supplies directly to nearby clinics based on current request queues.
- Rapid Prototyping: Used React and serverless backends to ship a working, end-to-end prototype within the competition deadline, earning 2nd place out of 35+ national teams.
Rapid hackathon sprints prove that a focused product scope and clean data relationships are key to delivering impact quickly.
